Measures reported by SynNasVolumeTest Hard Drive is a device for storing data into a Hard Disk. Here the Drive means a moving actuator arm with magnetic heads arranged on it to read and write data to the Hard Disk surface. Volumes provide the basic storage space on your Synology NAS. All your stuff such as shared folders, documents, and package data is stored on volumes. Therefore, before you start storing anything on your Synology NAS, you must create at least one volume. A volume is a collection of one or more disks. Synology uses a custom RAID setup called Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) - to keep your drives redundant. That means you will need more drives, but if one fails, you won't lose any data, because it will be mirrored on another drive. SHR will allow users to handle RAID management, expand storage, and maximize storage capability even if they do not have a fine grasp of various RAID levels. You can expand the volume by changing the drives one at a time and allow the DiskStation Manager to repair the volume. This test potentially alerts the administrators about the volume and its statuses such as created, synced, crashed, etc. Outputs of the test : One set of results for each volume on the Synology storage system being monitored. Descriptor of the test : Volume The measures made by this test are as follows:
