Deleting Remote agents The DELETE REMOTE AGENTS page depicts how the remote agents that are not assigned to any host can be deleted easily and instantly. To access this page, follow the Agents -> Remote Agents -> Delete menu sequence. In some environments, administrators may have configured one/more remote agents, but might not have assigned any hosts to them - i.e., these remote agents might not be monitoring any host in the environment. However, in spite of not being used effectively, these remote agents will unnecessarily keep consuming valuable premium agent licenses. Therefore, in order to optimize license usage, administrators might want to remove such "unused" agents from the eG Enterprise system. In environments where a large number of remote agents are configured, it might be almost impossible for administrators to locate unused remote agents and delete them. To ease the pain of the administrators, eG Enterprise provides a specialized interface using which remote agents that are not assigned to any host can be deleted easily and instantly. To access this page, follow the Agents -> Remote -> Delete menu sequence. The REMOTE AGENTS WHICH ARE NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY HOSTS list will display all those remote agents that are currently not monitoring any host. If too many remote agents are listed here, then, you can search for the agents that need to be deleted, by providing the whole/part of the agent nick name/IP address in the Search text box. After providing the search condition, click on the right-arrow button next to the text box. The remote agents with IPs or nick names that match the specified Search condition will then be listed in the REMOTE AGENTS WHICH ARE NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY HOSTS list box. From this list box, pick the remote agents to be deleted, and then click the Delete button. |
