Measures reported by HBladePSModuleTest

The Hitachi Compute Blade 500 is powered by four extremely reliable backplane and I/O, N +1 or fully redundant power supply modules. The availability and proper functioning of each of these power supply modules is critical to the uninterrupted operations of the chassis. Irrecoverable errors or erratic fluctuations experienced by the power supply modules can stall the blade operations for hours, slowing down or completely suspending the delivery of the dependent business services. If such an unpleasant eventuality is to be averted, administrators must be able to proactively detect potential problems with the power supply modules and take remedial action before anything untoward happens. The Hitachi Power Supply Modules test helps administrators achieve this end.

For each power supply module on the server platform, this test reports how healthy that power supply mofule currently is? and what is that power supply’s current status. In the process, administrators can quickly isolate those power supply modules that are behaving abnormally and can immediately initiate measures to correct the anomaly.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Health_Status Indicates the current health of this power supply module.   The values that this measure can report and the numeric values they indicate have been listed in the table below:

measure Value Numeric Value
Normal 1
Failed 2
Unknown 0

Note:

By default, this measure can report the Measure Values mentioned above while indicating the current health of each power supply module. However, the graph of this measure is indicated using the numeric equivalents.

Power_Status Indicates the current power status of this power supply module.   The values that this measure can report and the numeric values they indicate have been listed in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
PowerOff 1
PowerOn 2
Unknown 3

Note:

By default, this measure can report the Measure Values mentioned above while indicating the power status of each power supply module. However, the graph of this measure is indicated using the numeric equivalents.
