Measures reported by HBladeFanModuleTest
In the Hitachi Compute Blade 500, cooling is provided by six efficient, variable-speed, redundant fan modules. These fan modules are configured in redundant scenario such that the cooling operation continues even though one of the fan modules fails. Each fan module contains two fans for cooling the chassis and for tolerating fan failures with in the fan module. If any of these fan modules fails, then, the temperature of the core hardware modules of the server platform increases abruptly. This may cause the internal temperature of the server paltform to rise uncontrollably, resulting in considerable damage to the hardware modules. This is why, the health of each fan module should be verified time and again, and abnormalities (if any) escalated to administrators. This is exactly what the HBladeFanModuleTest test does!
This test reports the current health of each fan module in the chassis, thus turning the spotlight on those modules that may potentially fail. In addition, the test also checks the power status and the redundancy status of each fan module.
The measures made by this test are as follows:
| Measurement |
Description |
