Measures reported by HBladeFModFanTest The Hitachi Compute Blade 500 comprises of six fan modules. Each fan module includes two fans to maintain the temperature of the chassis at permissible level. A sudden surge in temperature of the core hardware modules in the chassis and high voltage fluctuations can render the fans spin faster, which in turn leads to fan failures and damages. If any of these fans fails due to such issues, then, the temperature of the core hardware modules may increase drastically, causing irreparable damage to the hardware modules, the chassis and the blades. To avoid such failures, the administrators must continuously check on the speed of every fan, detect potential aberrations in the fan state before they actually occur, and quickly initiate preventive measures. This is what the HBladeFModFanTest test does! For every fan in the fan module, this test reports speed of that fan, captures abnormalities on-the-fly, and brings them to the attention of the administrators. This enables administrators to identify those fans that are in the danger of going down and helps them quickly initiate measures to repair or replace such fans to ensure that internal operations resume without a glitch. The measures made by this test are as follows:
