Measures reported by HBladeFanModLEDTest

The Hitachi Compute Blade 500 contains six fan modules where each fan module comprises of two fans to provide cooling airflow to the blades and other modules in the chassis. Besides, each fan module is also provided with an LED for visually notifying administrator whether/not the fans in the corresponding fan module are running normally. The LED illuminates the green light indicating that the fans are running normally. If one of the fans fails due to physical damage or unstable power fluctuations, then, the LED flashes amber light to notify the administrator about occurrence of fan failure event in the fan module. It is clear that availability of the LED is important for the administrator to track health of the fans in the fan module instantly. Therefore, it is imperative that health of the LEDs should be closely monitored to figure out abnormalities (if any). This is what the HBladeFanModLEDTest test exactly does!

This test reveals current status of the LED on the fan module and colors illuminated by the LED to denote various notifications.

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Led_Status Indicates the current status of this LED.   The values that this measure can report and the numeric values they indicate have been listed in the table below:

State Numeric Value
Turn Off 1
Turn On 2
Unknown 3
Blink 4
Blink Fast 5
Blink Slow 6

Note:

By default, this measure can report the Measure Values mentioned above while indicating the current status of the LED on the fan module. However, the graph of this measure is indicated using the numeric equivalents.

Led_color Indicates the color emitted by this LED.   The values that this measure can report and the color they illuminate have been listed in the table below:

Color Numeric Value
Blue 1
Green 2
Red 3
Amber 4
Unknown 0

Note:

By default, this measure can report the Colors mentioned above while indicating the color of the LED on the fan module. However, the graph of this measure is indicated using the numeric equivalents.
