Measures reported by HBladeMgtModuleTest
In the chassis of the Hitachi Compute Blade 500, two hot-swappable management modules are accommodated in such a way that one is the active module and another one is the standby module. This redundant configuration ensures high-availability and operation continuity of the management modules. The management modules control and monitor the blades, switch modules, power supply modules and fan modules and also perform system console and management network functions. In addition, the management modules support SNMP and email alert notification so that administrators are always notified of any issues in the chassis. Critical or fatal irregularities found in the management modules can render serious control issues among the blades and other modules in the chassis. Moreover, any issues related to the blades and other modules inside the chassis will not be reported to the administrators so that administrators will not be able to address such issues before it causes serious damage to the chassis. If such outcome to be averted, administrators should monitor performance of the management modules and take remedial action before anything unexpected happens. The HBladeMgtModuleTest helps the administrators in this regard!
For each management module in the chassis, this test reports current health, power status and operation and maintenance modes. This way the test aids the administrators to immediately initiate measures to correct the abnormalities (if any).
