Measures reported by HBladeMgtModLEDTest
The Hitachi Compute Blade 500 contains two hot swappable management modules. Each management module is provided with a set of LEDs to notify the administrators to power supply state changes, primary status, availability and abnormalities. These LEDs are given below:
Heartbeat LED flashes green light when the management module works normally
Power LED notifies power-on and power-off status of the management module
Identify LED is manually turned on by the administrators for visually locating the management module
Alarm LED flashes red light when the errors or redundant failures occur
Primary LED indicates whether/not the management module is currently active
Remote LED indicates whether/not the management module is accessed remotely
With these visual notifications, administrators can easily find out health and working mode of the management module. In addition, occurrence of redundant failures and anomalies inside the management modules are notified by the LEDs. If the LEDs fail due to physical damage, fuse failures or abrupt voltage fluctuations, then, administrators will be deprived of visual notifications. This will leave administrators unaware of the state changes and issues in the management modules at the earlier stage and thus causing serious problems to the management modules. Therefore, it is imperative that health of the LEDs should be closely monitored to figure out abnormalities (if any). The HBladeMgtModLEDTest test aids the administrators in this exercise!
This test auto-discovers each LED in the management module, and reveals current status of the LED and colors emitted by the LED to denote various notifications.
The measures made by this test are as follows:
