Measures reported by HBladeServerLEDTest The blade servers are comprised of the following LEDs:
The power and alarm LEDs visually indicate the administrators to various power state changes and alarms generated in the blade server. The attention LED flashes indicating that a power button is pressed, and then it is turned off when the main power is turned on. The location LED is manually turned on by the administrator for visually locating the blade server. After the blade server has been located, the administrator turns off the location LED. By having these visual notifications, administrators can easily find out overall health of the blade server and can visually locate the blade server. In addition, the configuration mismatch errors, occurrence of failures and anomalies inside the blade servers are also notified by the LEDs. If these LEDs fail due to physical damage, fuse failures or abrupt voltage fluctuations, then, administrators will be deprived of visual notifications. This will leave the administrators unaware of the power state changes and failures occurred in the blade server at the earlier stage and thus causing serious problems to the blade servers. Therefore, it is imperative that health of the LEDs should be closely monitored to figure out abnormalities (if any). The HBladeServerLEDTest test aids the administrators in this exercise! This test reveals the current status of each LED on the blade server and colors emitted by each LED for denoting various notifications. This way, the administrators are alerted to the abnormalities, if any and take remedial actions. The measures made by this test are as follows:
