Account Lockout - Manager Settings

This page appears when you click on the Accounts Lockout tab of the Manager Settings page.

In the Account Lockout section, the following settings can be defined:

  • By default, the Message Type is set to Specific. When the message type is Specific, the error message displayed will be when an account is locked, or if the user enters an invalid username/password. For example, if the user enters the wrong password, the message stating “Invalid Password” appears. If the message tye is set to Generic, then the message will not be so specific. For example, if the user enters the wrong password, the error message will be “ Invalid Username or Password ”.
  • To disable the account lockout option, set the Enable account lockout? flag to No. By default the option is set to Yes, the locked user information can be viewed and unlocked only if the flag is set to Yes else the data will not be found in the Locked User section.
  • The Allowed Login Failure Attempts allows the admistrator to specify the number of attempts the user is given before the account is locked. By default, the value is set to 3.
  • In the Lockout Strategy there are two different types of strategy is allowed to set, the Reset and Time. If the Reset option is set, then the account can be unlocked only by the administrator from the Locked Accounts page. If the Time option is set, then the account will be unlocked automatically after the Time Period expires. The time can be specified in the Time Period texbox, by default the time period is set to 30 min.
  • Finally, click on the Update button.
