Default Parameters for IBMV7000VDCacheTest

This test reports the VDisk statistics such as the rate of I/O operations experienced by the sectors of each VDisk, the rate at which the cache is initiated for sector rrelated I/O operations etc. Further this test reveals how well the read/write requests are serviced by the sectors/tracks of each VDisk, the modes that are used to write the data into the sectors and how well the data is written to the sectors and the amount of dirty data that is written to the sectors. Using these metrics you can easily figure out which VDisk is busy processing the requests i.e., you could easily identify the over-utilized and the under-utilized VDisks.

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the IBMV7000VDCacheTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in the TIMEOUT text box. The default value is 60 seconds.

  • Once the necessary values have been entered, clicking on the Update button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
