Default Parameters for IBMV7000PortTest

Using this test, you could analyze the following:

  • How well the data is transmitted to/received from the hosts and controllers through each port of the nodes of the IBM Storwize v7000 storage device.
  • How well the commands are initiated to the controllers through each port thus helping you to identify the port that is overloaded.
  • The number of link failures, synchronization failures of each FC port
  • the number of times signal was lost in each FC port
  • Errors such as Primitive Sequence portocol errors, invalid word transmission, invalid CRCs transmitted through each FC port and
  • The time duration for which each FC port was unable to send the frames due to lack of buffer credit

This page depicts the default parameters that need to be configured for the IBMV7000PortTest.

  • The TEST PERIOD list box helps the user to decide how often this test needs to be executed.

  • Specify the duration (in seconds) beyond which the test will timeout in the TIMEOUT text box. The default value is 60 seconds.

  • Once the necessary values have been entered, clicking on the Update button will register the changes made.

When changing default configurations of tests, the values with “$” indicate variables that will be replaced by the eG system according to the specific server being managed - for instance, $hostName is the host/nickname of the target host, $port is the port number of the server being monitored. E.g., for a server xyz:80, $hostName will be changed automatically by the eG manager to “xyz” and $port will be changed to “80” when configuring a test.
