Deleting External Agents The DELETE EXTERNAL AGENTS page depicts how the external agents that are not assigned to any host can be deleted. To access this page, follow the Agents -> External Agents -> Delete menu sequence. In some environments, administrators may have configured one/more external agents, but might not have assigned any hosts to them - i.e., these external agents might not be monitoring any host in the environment. However, in spite of not being used effectively, these external agents will unnecessarily keep consuming valuable premium agent licenses. Therefore, in order to optimize license usage, administrators might want to remove such "unused" agents from the eG Enterprise system. In environments where a large number of agents are configured, it might be almost impossible for administrators to locate unused external agents and delete them. To ease the pain of the administrators, eG Enterprise provides a specialized interface using which external agents that are not assigned to any host can be deleted easily and instantly. The EXTERNAL AGENTS WHICH ARE NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY HOSTS list will display all those external agents that are currently not monitoring any host. If too many external agents are listed here, then, you can search for the agents that need to be deleted, by providing the whole/part of the agent nick name/IP address in the Search text box. After providing the search condition, click on the right-arrow button next to the text box. The external agents with IPs or nick names that match the specified Search condition will then be listed in the EXTERNAL AGENTS WHICH ARE NOT ASSOCIATED TO ANY HOSTS list box. From this list box, pick the external agents to be deleted, and then click the Delete button. |
