Measures reported by PzHardDiskTest Panzura Cloud File system uses a user definable percentage of local disk as the SmartCache for tracking hot, warm, or cold file block structures as they are accessed. This form of caching increases the I/O performance of reads by servicing them from local cached storage rather than from external cloud storage. The file system also buffers against variations in cloud availability to help maintain consistent read/write response times. Local storage is also used for write buffering and meta-data. Hence, over consumption of disk space beyond threshold limit can cause eviction of hot data, thereby adversly affecting local cache utilization. This can also cause potential IO latencies and inaccessibility or even loss of critical meta-data. Therefore, the disk usage of the Panzura cloud controller must be monitored carefully so as to promptly alert administrators of any potential disk space crunch. This test monitors the space utilization of the hard disk on the target appliance and reports the amount of disk space used and also the amount of free space. This test also helps administrators in identifying the percentage of disk space utilization, helping them to get a better picture on the disk utilization of the target appliance. This way, the Panzura disk test helps adminstrators to proactively identify and resolve any potential disk space crisis before it is experienced by the user. Outputs of the test: One set of results for the target appliance being monitored. The measures made by this test are as follows:
