Measures reported by GtmPoolStatusTest

A pool is a logical set of devices, such as web servers, that you group together to receive and process traffic. Instead of sending client traffic to the destination IP address specified in the client request, the BIG-IP GTM sends the request to any of the nodes that are members of that pool. When members of a pool are unavailable/disabled, they will not be able to receive or process traffic creating unnecessary traffic overloading.

This test auto-discovers the pools in the target BIG-IP GTM and for each pool, this test reports the availability and the status of the pool. Using this test, the administrator can identify the pools that are not available/in error state.

Outputs of the test: One set of results for each pool in BIG-IP GTM that is being monitored.

Outputs of the test: Pool

The measures made by this test are as follows:

Measurement Description Measurement Unit Interpretation
Pool_avail Indicates the availability of this pool.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
Available 0
Unknown 1
Unlicensed 2
Error 3
Currently not available 4
Not available 5

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the availability of this pool in BIG-IP GTM. However, in the graph of this measure, states will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only - i.e., 0 to 5.

Pool_stat Indicates the activity status of this pool.

The values reported by this measure and its numeric equivalent are mentioned in the table below:

Measure Value Numeric Value
None 0
Enabled 1
Disabled 2
Disabled by parent 3

Note:

By default, this measure reports the above-mentioned Measure Values while indicating the activity status of this pool in BIG-IP GTM. However, in the graph of this measure, states will be represented using the corresponding numeric equivalents only - i.e., 0 to 3.
